Yep, my mum often mentions Paisley's, and separately, GU uniforms! It sounds so funny to think you dressed up to go to uni, but she said she liked having a uniform!

I hate Debenhams. It's a soulless shop where I constantly get lost.

I did like Lewis's. Loved those triangular chocolate biscuits they used to sell.

I worked in Arnotts but in the Sauchiehall Street branch in the restaurant. Oh for the days were they dropped the mince pie out of the oven, it went all over the floor, they just scooped it up and put a new crust on it!

The same woman came in every Saturday, would eat 99% of her meal and then say something was wrong with it to get it for nothing.

They should have kicked her arse out the place but she always got away with it.

Sauchiehall St Arnotts - did that become Daly's at one time and it's now TK Maxx?

I never think of going shopping in there, only use it as a shortcut.

Think that last thing I bought out of Debenhams was an
umbrella, but I do like the glass lifts mind

The Sauchiehall Street Centre, as it was originally known, opened in 1974 on the site of the former Pettigrew & Stephens department store. At that time, the eight-storey building was the largest venture of its kind to have been built in the city centre. It included five retail stores with Arnotts as the flagship, numerous smaller shops, and a food court. The upper three levels provided parking space for 425 cars.

My Kitten, that's probably right. Can remember the
Sauchiehall Centre as a kid from about the age of
6 or 7. Laterley it became really shabby before
it's closure. I don't think Sauchiehall Street as a
shopping area is as nice as it used to be.

Arnotts Sauchiehall Street was in the Centre. Primark is now on the site but the staff door was in Bath Street.

I remember the clock in the Sauchiehall Centre which performed on the hour, with crowds of folk waiting from 5 minutes to the hour, sadly it was removed when they put the fountains in the basement area.
