Glen Michael

Postby marginalwalker » Sun Apr 30, 2006 3:13 pm

Am I the only person on the planet who never went to a Glen Michael Cavalcade Roadshow/Personal Appearance??

I see the man at least once a week. He looks great for a 70 something, but recently I saw him well out of puff and almost ready to collapse after climbing the stairs to the main entrance to Citypark.

Anyone got their own Glen Michael memories?

Same here, very disappointing.

He came to my school a few times between 96-98. I remember being really annoyed that the same girl got called up to win a prize two years running!

I heard that when he did the school appearances he would start going off on a tirade about his show being axed after 26 years

Allegedly..

What did he do at these shows?

I went to see Glen Michael many times on his roadshow, I was also featured on the TV show in his birthday spot I still have that on tape somewhere. he came to Hermitage Primary in Helensburgh my local school and also John Logie Baird in Helensburgh too. he would introduce cartoons to be shown on a projector and have silly games where you could go on stage and win prizes and even money £5.

I still see him in the lift in City Park as he works on the 4th floor in SAGA FM. He looks pretty out of shape :).

I also have a signed photo with him and Rusty if I find it I will scan it in.

Ahh I remember a story my mother told me about someone she knew whose son was in hospital and he got a tenner off Glen who was visiting, or something like that..

I'm going to ask him for some money. He never replied to the Xmas card that I and my work colleagues sent him.

Verbal, what do you do at Citypark?

I haven't the faintest idea
Well, actually... he showed us some cartoons and then somehow gave away prizes. Really shite ones too, like a 4 colour pen and a plastic windfloater football. I got his autograph one of the times. I lost though.

What actually happened on Glen Michael's Cavalcade ?
I was a regular viewer, but i'm buggered if I can remember any real detail of how the show went.

Although I do remember the talking lamp thing, and a couple of cartoons.

They started showing crappier cartoons, had ideas that Glen was on a Spaceship called ' The Starship Cavalcade ' which was the mothership toy of those 80s Manta Force figures. Then if memory serves me it became a crap drama/comedy show inbetween the cartoons..

( Cecil Buckland was an actor once.. )
