They had a 143 visiting when Bathgate re-opened in 1986, but they decided on 101s etc.

One of the guards at Queen St was trained up on them, and is the now only scotrail specific guard to have been trained on the traction

Found this in a second hand shop today.
Very interesting to read the actual report.

I have a copy of that report, out of interest how much did they charge you for it.

Picked it up for £12. More than I would usually pay for something like that to be honest, but it's not often you come across something like that.

I've also got a copy of that Clyderail report - my dad actually printed it and brought home an unbound proof copy. Anyone care to bid on that? :)

My French isn't great and it's a while since I've been on a long distance train in France but I overheard a conversation earlier between two French folk about yesterday's train crash and as far as I can tell, they agreed the reason there were comparatively few deaths is that nobody is allowed to stand on express trains.

Is it possibly that simple?
I hear the people sing.

I have tried searching this thread but either can't find or have missed the answer - if it is here:

I plan to travel down from Glasgow to High Wycombe on the final Tuesday in October and return, should I be able to pick up a ticket circa £80, on the Euston First Class service on the Friday.

To say I am confused by the conflicting advice online is an understatement. Should I simply book both journeys as soon as the twelve week period allows me to? It seems that £65 gets me from East Kilbride down to High Wycombe so I am budgeting for around £150 or so for travel. I am concerned that should I leave it too late then I miss out on the opportunity for cheaper tickets.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
