East End fire tonight?

Postby gap74 » Wed May 11, 2005 12:34 am

Spotted this as I was out tonight being dragged across fields by the old pooch - anyone any ideas what it was? This was at about 9pm, looked to be roughly in the Shettleston area...

Maybe prompted by an article in this week's local rag, announcing that Strathclyde Fire Brigade and Police are about to target illegal tyre dumpers in Carntyne and Easterhouse in particular, as the number of these items has now soared into the thousands, with the associated fire hazard being demonstrated here.

I've seen the Carntyne dump http://www.geewiki.de-soft.co.uk/pmwiki ... yneStadium and it's difficult to see how the dumpers get away with it for so long, as it would take somewhat longer than 5 or 10 minutes, or a couple of fly visits to produce a tyre dump that size.

Saw that driving back over the Erskine bridge the other night. Thought it was a tyre fire.
