Interested to read that about the Irish connection with these shops. There's still a Curley's in Belfast wonder if it's the same? The other grocer's in Saracen Cross was Galbraith's but my granny preferred Curley's

My dad had been the manager of most Galbraith's stores at one time or another, including their biggest store at Halfway. We ended up in Springburn because he got the flat in Kay Street, when the manager of the Springburn Road/Kay Street branch didn't need it.

cossers is still in saracen street and is one of the only places where you can still buy glass pints of milk.anybody remmember kangs 5 in 1 in possil,that was a shithole

Sell-by date for Henry Healy

THE famous Henry Healy shops in Glasgow have been put up for sale.
ChristieandCo has been been instructed by the liquidators Begbies Traynor to market five former Henry Healy sandwich shops after the company ceased trading.
The shops were something of an institution in Glasgow, having traded since 1913.

I noticed some of these shops are trading again as Henry Healy. Anyone know what's happened?

No idea but this was open last week.

They never took the signs down. Queen Street Branch and Mitchell Street branch are under different ownership. It was a well known Glasgow name so why change it ?
