Has to be Arnold Brown. And why not...

"I enjoy using the comedy technique of self-deprecation - but I'm not very good at it. "

Doesn't do too much stand-up these days. This is his more recent kind of thing from Radio 4 last Tuesday:

Can I add another, Bing Hitler aka Craig Ferguson. I went to see him in the late 80's funny guy.

I've never seen him do stand up but his film The Big Tease was good, I didn't think much of his other films. He is big in the U.S.A-The Drew Carey Show, and The Late Late Show see link.

I seen him in the Pavillion in the mid to late 80's, he was the main act and Norman Lovett and Harry Enfield were his support/warm up. Harry Enfield done loads 'a' money before it was on the telly.

Gotta go for Craig Ferguson too. His stand up stuff was stunning.

Billy would be a close second...

My vote went to Billy Connolly, class of his own. Arnold Brown takes second place, his radio 4 show was superb, especially the interview with Phillip Ennis!! Bless him.

C'mon, was at the glasgow comedy festival recently(haven't really seen on the forum about it??), and went to see Dance Monkey Boy Dance. I have to say, those boys are very funny, huge fan of Sandy Nelson. Sandy is brilliant at observation, especially when he describes the poncy types in Byres road, along with the 'west end wendy's'..........the ones that couldn't hack the housing scheme, so live life the byres road way of life, working in coffee shops, Ashton Lane etc. Raymond Mearns looks as though he will be appearing on our screens a bit more
