Does anyone remember the Glasgow Girl duo called "Strawberry Switchblade"?? I think there song was called "Yesterday"

Anyother one hit wonders form dear old glasgae toon would be appreciated I am sure

Can only really think of Hipsway - good band dont think they were very successful singles chart wise and maybe Win - they did the music to the advert for McEwans lager the one with the balls rolling up the hill. Dunno if any of them were from Glasgow tho.

I remember them well...and they were a bit tasty too!

Gonna have to rack my brain to think of some other 1 hit wonders tho.

How about Hay Elastica (was that the spelling?) or was I dreaming back then.
And don’t forget Scheme. A very Glasgow band by all accounts

What about Gun? Or Easterhouse?
I think the only claim to fame of Gun was that they managed to find three Glasgow guys who were over six feet in height!

Scheme are still going, albeit with only two of the original members. they play around glasgow all the time,in pubs. the guitarist lad in Hipsway Johhny Mcelhone, (can't spell his surname) is now in Texas,
who remembers Jim Diamond? he had two or three hits until he lost all credibilty with his 'Hi Ho silver' shennagins!!

Oh aye. there was also 'Heavy Pettin' they where a heavy rock band, their album was produced by Queen's Brian May.

Have never heard anything by Scheme, but for some reason their name
was always painted on walls around Glasgow in the 1980's.

was there not a BBC Documentary about them sometime in the 80s?....

I worked on Scheme's first 'video' which was, even by 1982's standard, extremely poor.....

Believe I may still have a VHS copy somewhere.....

Strawberry Switchblade's single 'Since Yesterday' was topps! Even the video would stand up today.

Pretty much off topic, but does anyone remember a great programme called 'The 80's', which was screened on Hogmanay 1989?

It basically covered the majority of 80's music in various sections, such as 'most expected to offend' including Milli Vanilli displaying virtually all in thin tights, and Cameo with the red cod-piece etc. I have managed to save this tape for posterity, and when I get my new system, will hopefully be able to burn it to DVD.

It was such a well-put-together compilation. Does anyone remember? Or what about 'The Big Day'? Anyone remember that? Got all the TV footage from that....

I'm sure a few folks must at least remember 'The Big Day'. Almost one of those, "I remember where I was and what I was doing" type of moments.

Yeah, i worked backstage on the big day, there was stages all over glasgow, i worked in fleshers haugh, the main stage, Deacon Blue where headliners, and Infamously Sheena Easton got bottled off after 2 and a half songs. It was all paid for by Channel 4, and the profits that where made all went to homeless charities in Scotland, i still got my t-shirt somewhere. all the bands where supposed to donate thier fees to the charities and only 'Texas and Del Amitri' remembered!!!
