Hopetoun Place Townhead - Photographs?

Postby bhpreston » Thu Jan 31, 2019 7:18 pm

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and joined to see if I could get any information or photograph regarding the old Hopetoun Place. The original street was located just off of Cathedral Street next to Rotten Row. From my research so far, the houses were demolished in 1967 and the Duncan Wing of the University of Strathclyde was built on top of the space in 1977.

The reason I'm really keen to get any information or photographs is that my gran Helen Preston née O'Brian lived here with her grand parents (Irish, in case the jobs any memories) from the late 40's. She moved out I think in the mid-late 50's. The only photos available are those in the Mitchell Archives but she'd love to see more and ones that she could actually see her old childhood home from.

I'd really appreciate any info or contact regarding this area!
