Hi

We used to have loads of great venues, Shadows bar, La Taniere, The Venue, Mayfair, Rooftops, Furlongs bar, plus the college & Uni bars like the QM, Glasgow Tech... with a load of really good bands. Chasar, Phobia / Blind Alley (now Gun), Big George and the Business, Beyond the Edge, Anaconda, The Silencers, Capone and the Bullets, Glasgow, The Soup Dragons, Heavy Pettin :), Jamie Barnes and Cochise, Pallas, Kevin McDermott Orchestra, The Big Dish, Wild River Apples, Scheme. A load of excellent music. Texas, Del Amitri with an emerging acoustic rock/ pop. Awesome!

We'd catch An afternoon band in Shadows or the Dial Inn, Big George in Furlongs, or Beyond the Edge at La Taniere, or Anaconda at Shadows in the evening, then off to the Venue, QM or Glasgow Tech.

From metal like Chasar, Blind Allez, Glasgow, awesome blues like Big George, acoustic / folkie rock like Beyond the Edge / Outside Edge, acoustic pop rock like Del Amitri... there was a load of talent.

Anyone remember seeing these bands? What others do you remember? What happened to the more obscure bands?

Greg Orr iirc? I think they had more than one, but I think Greg played with them for years. I'm not sure of the other member's names, though I seem to remember one of the later guitarists was John Carr.

Used to follow The Kissing Bandits who were a great mix of sixties garage band and punk.
