Having been down to the platform on the tour, the photographs in the article are all correct, except the caption for the fourth one down showing the stairs going down from the main station platform, these do not go down to the disused low level platform, they go down to a corridor that links platforms 3-8, and used to be accessible from the stairs going down to Argyle Street. This passageway was (is?) used to provide a controlled queuing system for football supporters going to Hampden Park on Internationals and Cup Finals, kept the supporters and the ordinary passengers apart.

My photographs from my visit are here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/gateside_and_northbridge/albums/72157661535478189

Proof that the missus sometimes does listen to my inane ramblings, surprise present this morning was a ticket for the Glasgow Central tour. Looking forward to it already, and I've still to book the date!

Went on the tour yesterday. Only disappointment was the feeling that there are a lot more nooks and crannies that Paul knows about but Joe Public will never see...
Updating what was posted earlier... Paul says that in the next month or so they will be putting in a section of track next to the platform where the metal stairs take you and a steam loco will be placed on it.
I didn't get the chance to ask which one...and can we get a group in there the day it's to arrive?
I'd like to do the roof tour as well but the transporting of a steam loco off the Argyle Line into their new go-nowhere platform sounds a fun day.

I asked Paul about the locomotive. It's a Glasgow built ex coal worker. Probably a saddle tanker. It will look brilliant with the sets he's talking about down there

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I did the tour in May 2016 and all these plans were being bandied around by Paul then, and don't really seem to be much further on. I know he gets very little support from Network Rail though so I am sure he is fighting an uphill battle to get funding. He also mentioned back then that there were pans to reinstate the roof walk as a standalone tour, but I've heard nothing more on that either.
