Necropolis Burials Map

Postby Chudleigh » Sun Oct 25, 2015 7:48 pm

Some years ago, I was looking for a burial in the Necropolis. I had the name and number, and a helpful member of the cemetery staff, with a map, took me straight to the headstone. No charge. I suspect things have changed, and I wondered if anyone can tell me how to access a map of where a burial is?

There was another map, which I used to have about 8 years ago. Each of the different sections of the Necropolis go under a Greek-sounding name. I was looking for my ancestor's family grave. I knew that the section I was looking for was Epsilon, and it was this map - which I got off the computer - that helped me to find the grave I was looking for, because it showed you where each section was.

I didn't know precisely where the grave was, just that it was Epsilon. I rounded the corner on the downward path and there it was. It was an old grave but the engravings were still fairly easy to read. A high percentage of the gravestones at the Necropolis are readable. I don't recall the site where that map came from.
