I shouldn't look at stuff like this, it only raises my blood pressure

Instead what we've got is a city torn in half by a motorway, that's usually filled with cars going nowhere fast and nowhere to park when they get there

I know what you mean OJ but the Glasgow of my childhood was a pretty awful place (I come from the Gorbals) and whilst what they replaced the Gorbals with wasn't much of a success (and Hutchie E was terrible to live in), eventually a better city has emerged in some parts....

Meh - Someone playing with graphics whithout stopping to think about the practicalities of building a transport system. It has all the usual shortcomings, tunneling under Glasgow is not like London, the eastern circle of the underground would be a nightmare to build, no integration with long distance passenger services, several pinch points not opened up.

Oh come on, the guy had a bit of creative fun with the 'what if' stuff. Always nice to look to the positives with a bit of fun (well I think so).

In some parallel universe, there exists a Glasgow with exactly that rail system :)

(Though I can't quite work out how St Enoch could be made into a through station in the way that that suggests. Still, a nice thought.)

We were walking along past the Clutha today and my missus commented on the railway bridge that crosses the Clyde by the old Briggat seems to have been painted recently and in good condition. She said pity that wasn't open for pedestrians or cyclists etc. I thought surely it cannot have any track or is connected to present rail system. Well just looking on google I was surprised to see it is connected , and has track. So why is it not in use???

If you are in the area about 15:45 in the afternoon you should see a train in the line, it is used two or three times a day for empty stock transfers between Eastfield and Corkerhill. It should have been brought back into use as part of the Clyderail report but was shelved at the last minute as a cost saving, subsequently it has been the subject of various schemes to get it reinstated. The most recent is some electioneering by Jim Murphy in February http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/scottish-politics/jim-murphy-pledges-glasgow-will-have-its-own-crossrail.118091646.

You do see the odd train going across that bridge at the Clutha. Used to be a few that used to go over early on Saturday mornings.

Got a shot of that bridge from the new nautical college on
Thursday 2-4-15, around 1pm an EWS loco [67016?] headed South
at a steady pace.

Actually the stations at Abronhill and Glenboig and also Plains on the Airdrie/Bathgate line could be moving a small step closer. We'd had a flyer through the door from NLC asking for comments to a consultation about transport in these three areas, so here's hoping. A station at Abronhill would be a great boost to the area after the body blows the council have delivered here.
