Scotland Wins the Commonwealth Games

Postby robertpool » Sun Aug 03, 2014 5:18 pm

Congratulations to Scotland in coming first at the Commonwealth Games. If you take the top 5 medal teams and work out the overall medals won per head of population: 1st Scotland : 2nd Canada : 3rd England : 4th Australia : 5th India ... Gold medals won per head of population : 1st Scotland : 2nd Australia : 3rd England : 4th Canada : 5th India. Did these teams think they could come to Glasgow and beat us ...dream on :-)

I like your statistical spin Robert; I will go with that! :)

I kind of wish I had gone to see something now that its all over - everyone who went to an event seems to have had such fun. Still, Glasgow did look lovely on the telly!

Is it the size of the population or the size of the team we should be counting?

There will be much debate over the coming weeks, months and years of course on the dreaded "L" word (ie: Legacy).......the CG's have always been a mixed bag in that regard between failure (think Edinburgh '86 and Delhi 2010) and reasonable success (Manchester '02).

I hope along with everyone else that all the new infrastructure they've put in has a lasting benefit, and doesn't end up a white elephant.
