HOOVER PARTIES

Postby Botanic Squirrel » Fri Nov 08, 2013 11:48 am

My Uncle Jim worked at the Hoover factory in Cambuslang and I remember going to the Christmas parties there when I was wee. This would have been in the 1970s. I know EdBoyle has some 40s pics of Hoover parties on his site but I wondered if anyone here has pics from the 70s, just so I can try to spot myself!

:)

Oh, and here's a flickr site with lots of pics of the Cambuslang factory.

Honestly...

They had factory parties for all the little kids.I'm sure I won a Batmobile in a raffle one year. I vaguely remember a rubbish magician as well. Happy days. :)

Slightly off topic but I used to go to a Christmas party every year in HMS Graham, the RNVR HQ in Whitefield Road, Ibrox. They had a pirates cave where you could have a goblet of "blood" and a lucky dip hidden in a barrel of straw.

I'm trying to track down a relative by the name of Neil Frame, he worked at the Hoover factory in the late 60's and may have left in the very early 70's.

If you have relatives that may have worked at Hoover around that time or you may have been there yourself, I'd appreciate it if you could get in contact with me.

Many Thanks in advance.

MustangPaul.
