Forgotten Book Title

Postby hound dog » Sat Dec 01, 2012 4:05 pm

Some years ago I borrowed a book from the library which I found interesting at the time and would be even more interested now, but for the life of me I can't remember either the title or the author

It was about the Garscube Road / Lyon St area of Woodside in the early/mid 20th century, before it was all obliterated. Anyone come across it or any ideas?

Was it 'Night Song of the Last Tram' by Robert Douglas?

I don't think so - think it was more of a "general" history of the area rather than a biography, but I'll check that next time I'm in the library, thanks. There was a map near the beginning showing you the layout of the streets which I had to keep referring to as I wasn't familiar with the area previously.

Hi Was it about a local gang leader Fred - Frank?? I remember reading a book and it had the local streets drawn what looked like pencil inside the front of the book - I was reading it as part of a search looking for a roll of honour to the men of Lyon Street which was just off the Garcube Road
