Insurance job??? and it's not even finished!!
THE MASTER OF THE CARAVAN :
But who are ye in rags and rotten shoes,
You dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?

THE PILGRIMS :
We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further:

Great photos there!

Despite the fire, it laughable that they say the building will be ready in September!! Be lucky to have it done for the new year.

Cracking pictures!

It's so awful that, just after they'd confirmed they'd only be 2 weeks late on finishing this building, a fire happens and now we don't know HOW long it will take...

My money's on one of the workies leaving a glass gingie bottle out in the sunshine...

Mostly the roof insulation that went on fire, caused by a welding torch, was on the news earlier that it will take a week to assess the full damage.

Not saying that it wasn't the insulation, but I would have thought an apparently state of the art building in this environmentally aware society that the insulation used would be fire resistant - perhaps the knowledgeable building construction guys would keep me right as I could be wrong in my assumption?

There was a smell of burning rubber while I was there, and one of the workmen told me it was a waterproof membrane that was on fire.

Oh dear. I suppose it is wrong of me to laugh at the fact that
The fire started in a water tank room...

I would not laugh had anyone been injured, but, well, in this case I couldn't help it.

Generally yeah the insulation should not be combustable, especially on a building of this height.

Traditional build, there should be no combustible materials in the cavity of a traditional building this height - perhaps the reading of the regulations has allowed for something different in the specific construction of this building though.

The photos there show what looks to be Rockwool or similar mineral fibre insulation quilts. They are supposed to be non-combustable and are often used to fire protect partitions etc. Don't know exactly the material though so can't guess.

Regardless of what caused it, and how - nobody was hurt - lets just hope they can get the construction back on track ASAP so the place actually opens on time!

Fire in Merchant City East.

Is there anything worth burning in Rogart Street.

It might look a small one, but the smoke was everywhere. Sky above Abercromby Street looked rather weird looking for a time there.
