That Sinking Feeling

I've posted this elsewhere but thought it would be well appropriate to post on HG:

STV report this pm that a sinking tenement at Bridgeton Cross to be demolished.

I can remember being in the part of this building that was used for GEAR offices back in the late 80s (GEAR the regen project, not GEAR as in recreational substances). As you walked from one side of the building to the other you could feel the tilt of the floor ‘pushing’ you towards one side.

… and irony upon irony… this sinking building is just around the corner from the building in which Bill Forsyth’s early great film, ‘That Sinking Feeling’ was filmed’:)

The thread deserves the actual movie. :D, watched this with memories flowing back of the way we were in the early days of the 80s.

Brilliant! BTW you would not now recognise the current building for what it was at the time the film was made.

Jaysus. That took me back. The lad in the Daimler was Tony Whitmore. He was at school with me in the 70s and he appeared briefly in Gregory's Girl as well. His dad managed or owned the old Silver Thread Hotel on the way into Paisley. I wonder what ever became of him. Now.....off to google my boyhood pinup girl.....Dee Hepburn! 8O

I don't think so. I did google that myself. It was 30 + years ago. He'd be in his 50s now like myself. AND he went out with Louise Wilson....not that I was jealous!

Hey Godsgift - who's that?

I also went to school with Tony, still in contact. He's a teacher of all things least expected of the boy at that age.

We still play music together along with Marti (remember him? wild ginger afro haired drummer?). Tony's brother (Gary) also still about.

Tony also now drives a Jag - very like the one in the film.
