Skeleton.

Postby Huggy » Wed Dec 21, 2011 10:12 pm

Guys, does anybody remember the newspaper pic' of a mummified body discovered in the east end (Dalmarnock?) when an old two storey building was being demolished. This had been a pawn shop, a guy had climbed down the lum intending to screw the safe but the fireplace had been bricked up. He was unable to climb back up and died behind the wall. From his clothing it was thought this dated from around the time of the Depression. The chimney breast was broken open revealing the body, dressed in a coat, both arms extended and the skull looking out. Maybe forty years ago?
This used tae gie me nightmares, the story wiz that he had a medallion roon his neck which bore the legend, "Hide & Seek Champion of Brigton".

I remember that! Must have been early 70's, I cut the article out and took it into school to show my pals. Freaked me out for years too.

No, it's not. I remember reading the story in the ET at the time. Like earlier posters, the story haunted my thoughts for many years, I still think about it in the wee small hours when I'm wrestling for sleep. Could there ever be a worse death?
Hanging upside down with your arms trapped by your sides, starving to death while your head gets bigger & bigger with the influx of blood & other body fluids? Disnae bear thinking aboot.

Sweet dreams all. :D

Na, ya daftie, we are talking way back when the world was in B&W. Rebus would not even have been born then.
