A big chunk of the Braes is definitely within the city limits. Going towards the Braes from the Carmunnock side, you leave the city boundary near the start of the long straight section of Cathkin Road. The land to the north of Cathkin Road is generally on the Glasgow side of the Glasgow/South Lanarkshire boundary until you get near the entrance to Cathkin Golf Course; from roughly that point, the boundary heads north towards the back of the houses at the easternmost end of Ardencraig Road.

Thank You!

Now, can the lot of you say sorry before I have to come round your gaffes, stand outside and loudly criticise your curtains? :D

Hey, in my defence, I only head over that way via Cambuslang! So I run out of Glasgow far quicker than if I went the Cook's tour via Carmunnock! And besides, my point about postcodes still stands!

Ah've no goat curtains anyhow. Ah've got vertical blinds cos this is a posh area. ::):

This council ward map shows the GCC boundary. The wards are not up to date as they were changed ahead of the 2007 elections through the Boundary Commission's Fourth Statutory Review.

The up-to-date map is a much bigger file size (68.2 MB compared to 3.5 MB), hence the reason I linked to the previous version.

A very good point. I don't have kids, but I do have a cat who has entangled himself in the blinds. Ours all have quick release cords though, and the ones which control opening and closing I have cut to make doubly sure that Oscar cat doesn't do himself a mischief.

It only takes a moment, and the worst can happen.

As a wee aside, I spent last night in a 19th floor flat in one of the tower blocks on Balgrayhill road last night.
The building was swaying a fair bit and my g/f says it was the worst she'd experienced in 12 years there. I was there when Bawbag did it's worst and last night/this morning was much more severe.

Cathkin Braes aside, which I've always assumed to be the highest point in Glasgow. What about Queens Park flagpole Which seems to look down on the whole of Glasgow (apart from aforemention CB).

Anyhow, off topic. What is the tallest building in Glasgow?

It has mutated into a right old can of worms now :) - I SUPPOSE you could say that the Whitlawburn multis in Cambuslang (which are only 13 floors) could have qualified as they are near the summit of Cathkin Brae as the tallest habitable man made point in the city, but since Cambuslang is now in South Lanarkshire they don't count. But think we can settle on Bluevale/Whitevale twin towers - it's easier!!!

Until they get demmied, which is apparently going to be before 2014 as discussed on the other thread.

What IS the tallest building ????????????

It all depends on the angle from where you're looking up from!

With these two it's a bit too close to call?

It is a real photograph taken in this afternoon's sunshine from behind the entrance of the Southern Necropolis in Gorbals, strangely not a sneaky stitch up!

I reckon that the gatehouse (to the left) is marginally taller, just my point of view of course!
