This is for Crusty who, has no idea who Molly Weir is. She’s Tams sister

Molly Weir
1920 -
Stage, screen, radio and television character actress and author. Born in Glasgow, sister of broadcaster and naturalist Tom Weir (b.1914), Weir began as a shorthand typist in an office in the city. Characterised by her energy and small frame, she came to prominence during World War II, as Tattie Macintosh in the BBC Radio comedy It's that Man Again (1939-49), better known by its acronym ITMA, with Tommy Handley. She went on to play Ivy McTweed in The McFlannels and Aggie in Life with the Lyons (1954). She contributed regularly to Woman's Hour and was a writer and performer on Children's Hour. Her television appearances included another children's programme, Rentaghost (1976) and Flowers of the Forest (1996). Film roles include relatively minor roles in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) based on Muriel Spark's book, Carry on Regardless (1961), Hands of the Ripper (1971), One of our Dinosaurs is Missing (1976).
She was also a popular public speaker, newspaper columnist and her memoirs run to eight volumes. Weir now lives in Pinner, near London.

But she was actually more famous for the Flash adverts :-) "Flash cleans baths without scratching!", she screeched in a voice that would take the enamel off your teeth, never mind the bath.

Weir's Way, brilliant. Just remember the matchstick eye-props though, or set your video to run an hour either side of STV's fantasy transmission time. They seem to be happy to rubber-band the time on many occasions, and PDC doesn't seem to help either. In fact its worse, as the video doesn't record at all if they don't transmit the signal.

You're right about Molly Weir's voice on the flash advert, I only had to see the words and it came screaming back home.

What was the phrase tacked on the floor ads? Something to do with no wiping?

Crap pic but I remember that oversized bunnet? What she was doing with Geoff Capes I dunno? Looking for Scunner Campbell no doubt.

You have to check out the theme tune co-written and sung by Billy Connoly no matter if you remember the programme or not. It's a belter by the way ::):

I never watched it (much) as a kid but It had all yer top showbiz names :? eg:
Each weekly episode was a self-contained crime-fighting story, made additionally watchable by the remarkable array of guest stars who were happy to take part. These included Billy Connolly (who also co-wrote the series' theme music), Michael Elphick, Roy Kinnear, Sheila Steafel, Irene Handl, Burt Kwouk, Pat Coombs, Spike Milligan, Anna Dawson, Rikki Fulton, Paul Shane, Ken Campbell, Bernard Cribbins, Leslie Phillips, Melvyn Hayes, Anna Karen, Harry Fowler, Michael Medwin, Joan Sims, Patrick Troughton (in his last TV appearance before his death), John Bluthal, Tim Healy, singers Lulu, Gary Glitter* and John Otway, sports stars George Best, Geoff Capes, John Conteh, Eric Bristow and Willie Thorne, stuntman Eddie Kidd and two Carry On stars, Barbara Windsor and, making his last ever scripted appearance on TV/film, Charles Hawtrey.

* Uh! Oh 8O

I don't even recognise half of those names :?:
