Postby glasgowken » Wed May 18, 2011 7:09 am

This is the only photo I have.

Any idea what it was awarded for, history, value, etc ? Cheers.

Star of David has six sides, surely? This one's a pentagram. Freemasonry, perhaps?

Hi, perhaps as this has the Star of David on it, you could try phoning the Synagogue in Glasgow: 0141-322-4151

Something and "HUMANITAS"

Humanitas, as benevolence, is a cornerstone of the credo of freemasonry. Some orders of freemasonry are called "Humanitas". - Wikipedia

Doing a Google image search on "masonic medal humanitas motto" gives this image ...

... on a Masonic Medal site. Unfortunately the medal has been sold and the actual listing has gone.

There are other medals on the site for Masonic Hospital Orders that have a very similar design though.

Some additional information:

Royal Freemasons Hospital Medal

aegros sanat humanitas: The inscription roughly translates as Humanity heals the sick.

The "FH" refers to the Masonic hospital at Finsbury Park in England. Long since closed where members of the craft were treated.

Awarded for charitable works or donations as far as I can determine and there are similar items going on ebay for around the £20 mark.
