Unfortunately now defunct too

Definitely one of the best UK bands of the last 10 years and will be sadly missed.

7 pages of posts and only one mention of Belle and Sebastian...astonishing. And no Orange Juice either.

Idlewild

Postby dcvr » Sat Apr 16, 2005 5:59 pm

Definitely Idlewild for me at the moment. They're really growing on me, especially after their excellent accoustic set at the Tsunami relief thingy.

I'm just annoyed I'll be missing them at Barrowlands, as I've gone and booked a holiday for the same time. Bleh!

David Byrne-Talking Heads has to be my shout!! :D :D

He originally came from Dumbarton(his family are totally Glaswegian), however, although he sounds Canadian, you can hear alot of Scottish in his accent. Pretty cool!

6 superb albums and the new Jeepster cd will also be superb. TigerMilk is a classic but it isn't the be all and end all.

My selection in no order of group preference:

Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Gerry Rafferty
The Average White Band
Nazareth
AC/DC
Jack Bruce
Blue Nile ( can get a bit suicidal, but well written )

Favourite Scottish singers or players (living or dead):

Bon Scott
Fish
Stuart Adamson
Annie Lennox
Midge Ure
Euan Lowson (ex Pallas - Old friend of mine)

As far as Fish Marillion is concerned, sorry folks I'm old
school. Hogarth is ok, but not Marillion. Old Marillion lyrics
perhaps may be too political, dark and deep for folks to
handle. Give us "Script" anyday, at least it's better to
think than be a gibbering monkey :x

Perhaps most people, like me, don't rate them as one of Scotlands greatest bands. Hardly astonishing.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say they've done some rubbish in their time.
