Plague of Flies!

Postby duncan » Tue Jul 27, 2004 3:57 pm

If you're in Glasgow city centre just now, go take a look outside. Apparently there's a plague of flies infesting the streets. Had a look outside my office (near the Kingston bridge), and there are indeed a lot of little flies going about, also plenty just crawling on the ground. I'm told it's much worse closer to Union Street.

Yer not wrong Duncan.. I walked over to catch the bus at Waterloo street from Washington street and pavements are covered in them. All of the flying ant variety.

Very strange... some even managed to get on the bus stuck to people's clothing.

Aye, just back from Argyle Street. Its infested with the wee blighters. The girl on the checkout at Tesco said they were flying ants, but they seemed more like your highland midge to me...

Could they not have attacked the Chambers instead..?

I noticed them around 4pm on the southside near Shawlands and had thier company all the way to the city center. Big papery wings with a dwarf wasp-like body 8O :?: Never seen these buggers before. It was like a swarm had decended. Probably the sudden change from winter to summer this afternoon.

Across from The Crystal Palace in Union Street was the worst, they were in people's hair and crawling all over their faces.

The woman in front of me on the bus had them stuck all in her hair, they were huge.
