What is the etiquette when seeing a famous person? I studiously did not notice Peter Howson as he bought fancy mushrooms and other upmarket foods in Roots & Fruits last weekend.

An almost imperceptible nod will usually suffice. The 'famous person' will usually spend the rest of the day wondering 'who the **** was that'.

Kris Boyd (if he counts as famous) in a restaurant in Silverburn (if that counts as Glasgow), this afternoon.
Funnily enough the last most famous person, I saw before Kris Boyd was........Kris Boyd, in a tea room at the Mearns X shopping centre. That definitely doesn't count as Glasgow as it is in East Renfrewshire.
