I used to work with a Pentax 6x7. You will develop good musculature...
You'll need a tripod a lot more than you may think due that big mirror whacking up and down. The shutter speeds are restrictive compared with 35mm/digital SLRs but the results are excellent - provided you can afford the mortgage needed for the quality D&P!

I've just bought a Canon EOS350D with the Tamron 70-300mm lens, it's my first foray into the world of DSLR photography and I'm very excited about it!

I've also got a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 and a wee Finepix A300 compact.

SmartAlex...

That pic with the stars is really rather special. Very nice. All the best with that new camera.

I'm taking a friend for a photography session/lesson some time between xmas and new year... she's just purchased a Canon EOS 400D and hant got a clue about it. If you have a free afternoon/early evening (or possibly a morning), we can go for a basic features scout about.... somewhere like the secc/science centre is always good

Nostalgia has been tickling my shutterbutton of late and I am going to get myself the best SLR camera ever made, bar none. The Olympus OM1.

I had one many years ago and it was just beautiful. I lent it to a friend to take some wedding pics. The pics didn't work out and - for some reason I never quite understood - he took the opportunity to sell my Olympus in a pub. Along with all my lenses. And filters.

Now it's time to get a secondhand one and pick up where I left off.

The OM10 was better with the LED meter readout instead of the bouncing needle which only made sense to itself. I wouldnt have forgiven a friend for flogging my camera equipment like that... what a cheek.
