Video isn't something I know much about, but my new camera shoots HD video, so I think it's time I learned.

Any recommendations for decent editing software?

After looking about I kept hearing that there is no great video editing software for windows. In the past I just used windows movie maker but it is not compatable with mpeg-II files which most stuff is now so I downloaded Videopad software.

Its not quite as intuative as movie maker and mine seems to have a flaw where the first 5 seconds or so of picture freezes when in story board but it fixes itself when the final movie is produced.

Avoid Pinnacle Studio like the plague. AWFUL! Sony Vegas is very stable and just works.
