New camera shop on Sauchiehall Street

Was in town yesterday and had the chance to have a wee look in the new Jacobs store on Sauchiehall Street. It only opened a few days ago (it's not even listed on their website yet) and apparently there's still some new stands and more merchandise to go in. Even without all the stock it's looking like it's going to be a good place to go! Loads of gear that you just can't get anywhere else in Glasgow (unfortunately including some that I ordered online just last week - I'd have waited if I knew they were opening!).

A much better range than most places in Glasgow that only seem to stock entry and mid range stuff these days, and even then in a kind of half hearted way.

so that didn't last very long, did it.... :(
I'm not surprised, how could a business like that ever cover the rent and rates and wages and still compete with web based sales?

It's unfortunate, but that's how the high street is going to go. They can't or won't compete with online shopping.
