Class 380 E.M.U. Siemens Desiro Fleet Mock - Up Display At Glasgow Central High Level Station:
http://jonathanmcgurk.fotopic.net/c1693730.html
Hi all. Myself and a few other attended a press photography event to take photographs of the mock - up Class 380 E.M.U. Siemens Desiro display which took place (and where the display is displayed) in the station carpark at Glasgow Central High Level today. The mock - up display will be in the station carpark for viewing by members of the public from Thursday 7th - Wednesday 20th May 2009 so if you are around the area then make sure you go and see these smart and very impressive looking trains. These new trains will be running on the new G.A.R.L. (Glasgow Airport Rail Link) when built and also Ayr and Inverclyde train services. The first batch of 38 (22 4 - car and 16 3 - car) sets are expected to arrive in late 2010 up until 2011 (when the rest of the fleet should be shipped across from Siemens in Germany). More information and the photographs can be found by clicking on the link above. If you want any further information about today then do not hesitate to get in touch. I will be adding full captions to the photographs which will ALL be done by the end of the night as well as writing a full commentary box so make sure you check back at some point by the end of tonight or tomorrow.

Enjoy!!!

Best Regards

Great pics as ever Jonathan.
Will the front of all these trains have a gangway or door? No doubt it is a very functional design, but not very streamlined or pleasing to the eye.

They're going to be as you see it on the mock up, to enable them to be fully walk through whether theyre coupled as 7or8 car sets...more places for the fare dodgers to hide.

I doubt the dodgers would be on the train to the airport unless theyre planning to dodge the plane fare from glasgow to benidorm :)

I had twenty minutes to kill while waiting for my train the other day and went and had a look , It looks pretty good to me , apart from the huge toilet door that opens in full view of almost all the carriage occupants ! . But i did like the little seated desk areas complete with power points for plugging in your laptop .

had a look at it and it looks fooking rancid, the gangways between units are a waste after all why did they remove them from the 318's at barclays. even the gangways were removed from the 126 diesels in 1980 as they werent used and they were usually 6 car sets. too sensible to put on a ticket bert in each of the sets?? also I am interested to see how reliable they will be after all the 334's didnt enter traffic without problems, milliken park, lochwinnoch, glengarnock and johnstone.... yep been stranded at all these places after a 334 failed.

of course if semens wanted to see a proper train with comfy seats, compartments and bogies that dont rattle your teeth out they could have taken a trip to boness and seen 126413, just dont build them with blue asbestos insulation, it costs you a blinking fortune to remove and rebuild ::): ::):
