Why did Edinburgh get the royal yacht and all the associated tourist benefits that entailed instead of Glasgow where it was built and which could have better utilised it.

After searching I think the best place to leave this is here

RailWorks Glasgow Airport Rail Link Add-on

Looks like the link has been completed but only in a virtual form :)

Only consolation is that they are pressing ahead with triple-tracking the Glasgow-Paisley Gilmour St section of the line - to increase the frequency of the Ayrshire services. Was a bit embarrassing that Network Rail started putting the new overhead gantries up ahead of GARL starting in earnest....that was the kiss of death I think.

Yet more anti Glasgow bias.

Looks like the GARL money which went on the replacement Forth Crossing - to be known as the Salmond Memorial Bridge - could have been better spent.

Forth Road Bridge: Cable corrosion problems 'resolved'.
Corrosion problems on the Forth Road Bridge appear to have been resolved, engineers have found.

A system to stop wires cracking in the suspension cables has greatly reduced concerns about their future safety.

This is the first inspection report since a dehumidification system was installed on the bridge cables four years ago.

Haud on, did it go on the Aberdeen Bypass or the bridge? Or both?

"THE doomed Glasgow Airport Rail Link project has cost £30 million, official figures have revealed.

Scottish Labour yesterday hit out at the "colossal waste of money" after the Scottish Government confirmed spending of £29.91m up to last month, with an estimated £120,000 still to be incurred.

The total includes £8.5m on buying land and making additional compensation payments to the original owners - of which just £360,000 was recouped in subsequent sales."

Just in case you missed it, that's £30,000,000
