Does it mention Greggs?

That's a Vauxhall Royale next to the Austin at the bottom of the picture. Rare beast even its day. Want.

And was a vauxhall royale the same as a opel monza?.

Was Basil Spence not the ejit that was responsible for the slums that replaced the old Gorbals slums?

No the tenants were responsible for the slums that replaced the previous slums.

Still get tearie eyed over your old single end?

Okay I'll bite

No I'm not teary eyed for my childhood home in Crown Street. It wasn't a single end in any case and was unusual in that it did have a (very) small inside toilet, though no bath.

You clearly didn't have the joy of being moved to the lovely Queen Elizabeth Sq, with it's instant mold, too expensive to run and frequently broken heating system and where the hell where the gardens that every individual tenant was supposed to get? Not to say the disapperance of all the shops and pubs contributed to the disapperance of a whole community. Social engineering? Fact was the Gorbals was an embaresment to certain high officers in the corporation and they would have done anything to destroy it.
The old chestnut of it was all the tenants fault was trotted out for yeasr by corporation officals as an excuse to do nothing, maybe you were one of them?
The people who designed and built the then new Gorbals should have been made to live in them. Then then might have realised how truely shite they were. :x

A significant number of ragged tooth pubs survived for a while but basically people moved elsewhere as they did in all the new schemes. It'll happen to the new new Gorbals as well.

And if you're missing your slum with a hoity toity inside toilet there's plenty of them in say Allison Street. All privately owned.

You know what i miss : t"heads encrusted with scabs, exudation and lice". And other slum diseases such as ringworm and chronic malnutrition.
