Tradeston

Postby Jazza » Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:35 am

Evening times has first 3 page deicated to a £300m develpoment plan.

Has the ubiquitous images of speedboats and pleasure cruisers in the mock-ups and dos look like anything new/special (too me), but alot better than the current state.

Anyone else seen it?
Eighty percent of success is showing up.

ABC Architects on thier proposal for one of the tradeston blocks.

The area is unique in terms of the challenge to create a high quality mixed use area incorporating quality residential development served by a range of local shops with complementary commercial and business activity, bridging the Clyde and connecting the area to the International Financial Services District (IFSD) and the commercial City Centre. The study considered improvement of links to the River Clyde, the interface between Tradeston and Laurieston and pedestrian movement within the area.

Current and proposed infrastructure developments, including public transport and highways were included along with an assessment of recent progress of developments within the area and proposed public realm improvements. Anderson Bell Christie have gone on to design a flagship mixed-use

Rebirth of a ghost town

STUNNING images of the new continental-style development planned for Glasgow's rundown Tradeston are revealed for the first time today.

The £300million scheme could transform the derelict warehouses and dock buildings across the Clyde from the city's financial district.

In their place will be three huge futuristic apartment blocks as well as office space, shops, a fitness suite, bars and restaurants and a creche

Simple, turning a press release into a "news story" is less effort than real journalism.

All looks like a sea front from Spain. NO charachter or any great architechtural thought into it. I would love to know the life span of these properties before they start to need major work.
Thank you. And why not.

Plan to build Clyde regeneration bridge back on

COUNCIL bosses are expected to approve £13million for a new Clyde quayside before tendering starts to revive plans for a £33million river crossing. The design for the Tradeston Bridge by architect Richard Rodgers was aborted earlier this year after costs rose to £60m for the former Neptune Bridge. Now it is back on the council's agenda with the entire scheme coming in at just £33m.

The quayside and bridge, incorporating a "public realm space", will link the International Financial Services District with Tradeston. It is among several landmark projects which signal the ongoing regeneration of the city.

Negotiations to acquire private land in the path of Glasgow's East End Regeneration route now only require the release of cash to complete the deal.
