It would also help if they could spell exciting on the website - look at the title of the website on the web browser window "Eciting plans for a store in Partick"

So they've abandoned the student flats idea then? That building has a much lower profile than the original pics.

The aerial photo is seriously out of date too - the expressway is completely different nowadays. I wonder how long have they been sitting on those pictures?

Store site plans on show

Glasgow Harbour bosses will unveil a blueprint for a housing development at a controversial site in the city’s West End.

Its development firm wants to create homes and business units at a site originally earmarked for a big Tesco superstore near Partick Cross, now planned for Whiteinch.

A walkway would form part of the new mixed-use scheme to link the Beith Street site with Glasgow Harbour and the new Riverside Transport Museum.

Glasgow Harbour Developments issued a proposal of application notice which firms must submit to community councils and other organisations before a big planning application is submitted. The firm will also hold a joint two-day consultation next month with Tesco at Partick and Whiteinch libraries to give local people a say on plans for a £50million Tesco Extra in South Street, Whiteinch.

Euan Jamieson, managing director of Glasgow Harbour said: “We’re confident that the local community view the proposals for the new Tesco supermarket at Glasgow Harbour and the housing at Beith Street very positively.

Tesco claims its revised scheme for a 100,000sqft store will create more than 500 jobs and bring millions of pounds of investment to the area.

Tesco’s Glasgow Harbour plans revealed to public

Image

25 Oct 2010

This is the first glimpse of a proposed £50million superstore earmarked for Glasgow Harbour site.
Today Tesco bosses began a two-day consultation to give the public a say on their revised plans.
The supermarket giant unveiled its blueprint for an alternative 100,000 square feet store in Whiteinch after an initial proposal for a store in Beith Street, near Partick Cross, failed to get off the ground.
That site is now earmarked for homes and shops by Glasgow Harbour Developments.
But before planning applications are submitted, both firms have issued notices to inform community groups about their proposals.
They will also jointly host two-day consultation exhibitions at Partick and Whiteinch libraries on Monday and Tuesday next week to show how their separate schemes will look.

We can look forward to that part of Partick becoming a puddle of mini high rises. It doesn't look nice. Wasn't Glasgoew Harbour touted to have shops and cafes? It's a desert, and this could end up the same.

Aye, and they haven't even finished Glasgow Harbour yet. There's still a whole swathe of that to get built westwards.

Tesco always get their way in the end.....although this particular one has dragged on since the mid 2000s probably?? It was certainly well before the credit crunch it was on the front page of the ET - maybe 04-05 something like that!
