Broomielaw & IFSD regeneration

Postby escotregen » Thu Feb 28, 2019 10:04 am

Consultation out just now from Glasgow City Council on proposals for Broomielaw regeneration, with ambitions for further development of the International Financial Services District. Comments and reactions would be interesting?

You haven't been reading the Evening Times for the last 15 years? It's the area bounded by the M8, Bath Street, Hope Street and the Broomielaw where all the swanky office buildings are.

The plans include proposals for a world-class River Park along both banks of the Clyde; an examination of the impacts of the M8 motorway on the area; establishing a vibrant mixed-use riverfront community featuring high-quality contemporary design; creating new public and green spaces; and instilling a collaborative approach to attracting investment and funding.

I love this!!!!!!!!1

It's badly in needed of doing - the streets between the Broomielaw and Argyle Street (around where Kentigern House is) have seen little (or at the most, piecemeal) development. A lot of the buildings on the south side of Argyle Street up to James Watt Street are in dire need of either refurbishment or demolition. It always seemed that they built the Radisson hotel back in the late noughties and then ran out of interest in going any further west
