Development itself is as welcome as any other hotel one, but this blurb in the planning application is hilarious:
"In a statement the applicants noted: “The hotel has been designed as a calming place in stark contrast to the vibrant streets outside. With a neutral palette and a focus on light and materiality to enhance the visitors experience and achieve a wow factor. The design incorporates extensive use of glass and reflective materials which aim to capture some of the essence and awe of its namesake."

Little or no chance of a good nights sleep there,3 nightclubs on the doorstep ,central station behind and the boy racers racetrack outside the front door on a Friday and Saturday night.

Right about the noisy environment... the developer promises 'a calming place'. Extra heavy triple glazing and 'excuse me sir you're not allowed to open any windows... and we don't advise venturing out too late into the street around club closing time'.

BTW on boy racers I was at a business do in a hotel in the Douglas Street, Pitt Street area. When we came out late the streets were awash with boys racers. Emissions pollution levels must have off the table, and I'd emphasise 'racers'. Ironic that the big polis shop is just round the corner.

Even more ironic is that they don't crash into all the kerb crawlers in that area at night (does it still go on all that malarkey....used to be a real hotspot around the Anderston Centre)
