I see we're getting in a Hampton Inn (Hilton's version of a Premier Inn/Travelodge; they're everywhere in the US) - the first one in Scotland next year;
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-sco ... s-25810883That office block in question went up in the early '70s - one for the HG historians - was there not a hotel called the Cockburn there many years ago (like back in Edwardian times...), anyone have any info on it??

I think Robert Pool may have some memorabilia on a Cockburn Hotel at 14 Bath Street which offered billiards, turkish baths and board on the American principle.
"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.
