I always thought that 40 Rosemount Street was too dangerously close to the motorway for them to risk a blowdown and it would get nibbled.....but apparently not. Unless they are going to do a quick closure of the M8 or something which I can't see the police allowing.

The Police closed M8 for the Red Road fiasco. It was just 2 police cars and outriders doing a slow down
from about a mile in each direction. Dependant on weather I would think the dust cloud would be the
main problem.

I've often wondered how and who makes the call over what method is chosen, either explosives, nibble down or a deconstruction. I guess each method has its pros and cons in terms of cost and the risk of collateral damage to neighboring structures.

99 Prospecthill Circus is now being demolished by long reach machine; this one is being tackled from the front face unlike Sighthill where they are munching from the side. 111 Prospecthill is still being stripped out.

Passed Sighthill today; only 3 or 4 storeys to go, won't be long now til it's all gone methinks.

Didn't have time to stop and get any pics, sadly.

Last men standing – the people who live in almost empty demolition-targeted Glasgow tower blocks
By Darren Hercher, Director / Producer

The very first time I visited Sighthill in Glasgow was about a decade ago. The estate had just began a long regeneration project, which involved demolishing all the blocks and eventually rebuilding the community.....

Interviews with some of the last residents - its on BBC2 tonight (10th Jan).

Been a while since we last revisited this thread - any more blocks that people know of that are about to come down?

From what I have heard from GHA / Wheatley, the current demolition programme is complete. The blocks at Sighthill and Toryglen were the last planned demolitions for now.

I read somewhere that they had been talking about taking down the three Cranhill blocks (Longstone Place - you know by the motorway) - by 2020.

Can anyone substantiate this?

Not heard anything yet, I usually hear through work, but it is not foolproof.

Just saw that the two remaining Hutchesontown D towers on Caledonia Road are now also in the process of being cleared out - two were brought down in 2006 and the remaining two recladded.

Think they said that the cladding is now substandard (by that I mean that it is Grenfell-combustible?), and it is too expensive to strip it off and start again....hence demolition is now justified. Hmmm....what a waste of money IMHO.
