Great document here on the latest version of Strathclyde University’s redevelopment plan. Some clues over what is likely to be built over the coming years - and if you read between the lines a few U-turns on the earlier plans were quietly slipped in as well…..

Key points:
- The Livingstone Tower, Collins Gallery and McCance are now secure until 2023, explains the stooshie in the E.T a few months ago about the millions spent on the Livvy when they were supposedly vacating it in the next couple of years.
- The Colville Building is now condemned (after earlier talk of refurbishment); the idea is to demolish it by 2015, and extend Rottenrow Gardens - this being dependent on the council allowing them to pedestrianise North Portland Street.
- The Alexander Turnbull Building on George Street is to be sold next year
- Vacating the Graham Hills/Marland House is pencilled in for 2018. Again, they have spent fortunes in recent years on this building, suggesting the logic of vacating it...
- Confirmation of the commitment to the TIC Building on the Albion Street site.
- The often talked about “front door building” is now proposed for the north west of the Rottenrow Gardens site, suggesting it will make use of the entrance portico of the old maternity hospital.
- Construction work on the new Sports Centre on Cathedral Street to begin in 2014 (will believe it when I see it given how long they have been touting this plan…)
- Most controversial of the lot is the idea to completely vacate the Royal College by 2016 and sell it for a private development, like flats or a hotel. Why would the Uni sell its original and centrepiece building?? Pretty sure the council and/or Historic Scotland might have something to say about any change of use of the building.
So, some pretty interesting stuff...have a look for yourselves.
