I really like the way the Clyde is evolving. The Squiggly Bridge is a very original design and enhances all the new structures along the River. I think these are exciting times with the old image of Glasgow’s industrial riverside dereliction finally being banished to be replaced by what must be the most stylish river front development anywhere in the UK. The new transport museum, another fabulous and innovative design, will be a totally awesome when complete.

My only real criticism is the BBC Studio. It is outrageously bland and boring. A box of glass panels without a curve in sight?? My 9 year old son could have made a better job!!!

The photos on this thread are pure brill by the way!!

What exactly is the point of this bridge? It's less than 200m away from the George V Bridge to the east. On the other hand, there isn't another opportunity for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the river to the west for another 1.5 km until the Squinty Bridge.

It's no use as part of a cycle route either, as going southward it dumps you into oncoming traffic on one-way West Street!

I had forgotten about this post till I popped down to take a look this afternoon. 200m? It's nearer 20m. I was expecting to find it almost under the Kingston Bridge.

Marina plan for Clyde

New role for old city dock

GLASGOW is to have its own marina as part of plans to rejuvenate the city's Clyde waterfront.
Scottish Enterprise, the national regeneration and jobs agency, will this week outline plans for a 300-berth dock next to Glasgow Science Centre on the south bank of the river.
Developers are being asked to help turn an area of the old Prince's Dock into a hub of maritime activity.
Scottish Enterprise is open to suggestions for floating restaurants or offices, and island' sites for hotels and house boats. The canting basin, an area created to allow ships to could turn, is one of the last free areas of open water on the riverside, now that most of the former docks have been filled.
