I worked at their shop at the corner of Bank St & Gt Western Rd at the end of the 1960's as a 'Saturday Boy' being still at school at the time and its sign was Coopers Fine Fare.

Funny the little things you remember - the basement had vaulted alcoves running around its edges, probably under the pavements looking back now.

My word .. is this the Coopers Fine Fare that changed to Chimmy Chungas?

I worked in there too as a boy while at school.

:D

Stacked shelves after school for a year or so. Horrible little manager bloke (Mr McPeake) induced my first ever act of vandalism. I wrote "McPeake for Fuhrer" on the toilet cubicle wall. The arse actually called all staff into the office and made them write the words on individual sheets of paper so he could check the handwriting.

Tossbag.

Was Mr Bex, the area manager when you were there?

The store superviser was a lovely old gent, Mr Noble in my time.

Oh you'd remember Mr Bex if he was visiting when you were there - I was a shelf stacker as well and he'd arrive, get the store manager and he'd go around the place pointing out everything to the manager and each of us how we were all getting it wrong.

Everything had to be 'faced up', no gaps or he went bananas, but the rest of the time it was a good place to work.

Happy daze! 8)
