Alexandra Street

Postby jon509 » Fri May 30, 2008 1:03 pm

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I live in Canada and I'm trying to trace my ancestry. I found that two of my relatives died at #3 Alexandra Street in Partick. One in 1896 and the other in 1920. Could this address have been a hospital ?
I understand that Alexandra Street is now caled Elie Street.
If anyone could help or point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated,
Thanks,
jon

Yes , that could be, what's strange is I'm not sure they even knew each other at that time. That's why I was hoping to determine if there was always houses there or maybe they died in a hospital.

The nearest hospital was and is the western Infirmary. The tenements in Alexandra street are still there in Elie street and are over 100 years old.

If two members of the same family died at the same address 24 years apart, it would seem quite likely that this was the family home.
