SPT PDF Timetable

SPT will be providing FREE shuttle bus services from Glasgow city centre and beyond! All buses operate on a first come first served basis.

The Glasgow River Festival returns to the Clyde this summer and SPT is keen to play its part by providing free transport to the event.

Between 10am and 7.00pm on Saturday and Sunday a fleet of buses will operate a half hourly service from Buchanan Bus Station via George Square and Central Station to the SECC and Science Centre.

Free buses will also run from Easterhouse, Springburn, Drumchapel and Pollok Shopping Centres and Castlemilk Pool.

From outside the city, free buses will run from the arches on East George Street, near Kilmarnock Bus Station and from special stances inside Hamilton and Greenock Bus Stations.

The buses will be clearly identified with banners saying "SPT joining up journeys to the River Festival".

Assistant Chief Executive of SPT, Gordon Maclennan, said: "When the city is hosting such events like the Glasgow River Festival, it's vital that our transport system is as efficient as possible.

"One of SPT's core objectives is to get people out of cars and on to public transport. The Glasgow River Festival provides a great opportunity to do that, so we're running buses to make it easy for people to get to this exciting family day out."

I went to last years and thought it was pretty good, apart from the fiasco of the duck race at the end of the last day ::):

>>My Pics From 2007<<

What i will say is if anyones planning on going onto the Tall Ship, get there as early as you can, when i took my nephew on the sunday, the queue was about 50mins to get on it, yet on the sat i was on it in less than 5mins.

I hope the weathers good for anyone going.

I'm hoping to catch some of the festival this year.

The Wee Man's not well so I might have to be a big loner and go myself.

Took the wean, was a bit too busy for a pram and a fat bastard like me so we only stayed a couple of hours then went for a walk back to Queen St Station.

Here's a few shots.

Must say I was a bit disappointed this year. Not as many boats this time. Loads more stalls selling junk food. The worse thing was the constant shite from blaring tannoys. Felt like ramming microphone where the sun dont shine. The tower was busy but nice to see it open. All round nice to see so many there and as a yearly event would have been nicer to see more rather than less ships/ vessels. We had better view today watching many of the boats heading downriver.

Have to agree, Peter. What was the point of screeching out 'Glasgow River Festival' every 5 mins, we all knew where we were, ffs

Who was that tube with the microphone???

Me and the missus also felt that there wasn't enough nautical events on offer.
Why couldn't they put on something like these? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7516660.stm, http://www.tallshipsfestival.com/info.html or even some evening activities?
Yes, yes, what about the neds? Well if we keep using problems such as excessive drinking and a general lack of social etiquette from a minority as reasons why a majority can't enjoy themselves then what's the point?

Agreed. Who knows, the subway might even stay open past 6.30 on a Sunday

its my favoute festival, took about 1000 shots not looked a most yet. I did notice it was a bit more commercial this year. The tower was crammed because they knocked it down to £2 this year, wish i'd known earlier. If it was £2 all the time i'd be up & down it on sunny days :)
