It's a shame what has happened to the Paisley one in more recent years. When it first started out there were easily 30+ stalls all in the square compared to the 10 or so that now occupy the area every fortnight. It really is a shame as it was and still is a way of supporting local produce and business.
On another note I believe there's a fairly good farmers' market somewhere around the Loch Lomond shores? Not entirely sure but would be interesting if someone knows of it?!

Posted: Fri Mar 01, 2013 10:50 amthe clydebank one was short lived.produce,as good as it may have been was just a tad outside the price range for the locals.why are the costs always so high when its coming straight from the farm.same goes for places like mallaig for fresh landed sea food.

Posted: Fri Mar 01, 2013 11:31 amI'd guess its economies of scale. Time consuming and costly to shift a small amount of produce directly to the consumer, versus bulk sales to a bulk buyer. You pay for that direct link I guess.

Posted: Fri Mar 01, 2013 12:09 pmI think the organisers and stallholders fell for their own publicity re 'local' produce whilst transporting stuff the length of Scotland and loading the price well beyond what local shops and supermarkets are charging for similar produce.
