Hot railtour action - 10 February 2007

Postby Sir Roger DeLodgerley » Wed Dec 06, 2006 2:31 pm

Pathfinder tours are running their "McBuffer Puffer" on 10 February around the Glasgow suburban network. The tour is loco hauled (2 class 37s) and includes a jaunt over the old CGU line.

Details here:
http://www.pathfindertours.co.uk/Enthusiast.htm#McBuffer100207
:D :D :D
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted.

2 37s on the Argyle Line should wake up the usual punters down there. ::):

Looks like that would be an excellent day out, but £68 might be stretching it a bit.

I left it too late  it's now only 1st class thats left and I am not paying £96 to take part in this.

I really wanted to go too.

We could get a squad of folk together and chase it about the place by road, catching it passing strategic locations.

I would expect that a link to the train times will be posted on http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/tiki-index.php well before the date, I will keep you posted, although I have a suspicion that there are more members of HG who subscribe to Scot-rail than me.

I remember being at Balmore Road a couple of years back and a steam loco went by. You'd think the schools would take the kids for a wee look.

In 1991 I was in Port Glasgow station and one of those old blue trains (yellow front and rear) with the old BR logo flew through. Those things had character.

Nothing for you to get excited about on this trip Sharon - the only shoes will be the brake shoes on the locomotives!!!

I think it could be a good bit of fun to track and trace its journey and intercepting it at key points. IF (and I mean IF) I had the bike back, I'm going to give it a try after I finish the day in the barras. Anyone brave enough to ride pillion with a camera for those 'in motion' shots? :D

And Passing Thru Bellgrove:-

That'll teach me for not reading posts properly I was expecting a steam train due to the McBuffer Puffer name, Not dissapointed though loads of people with their heads sticking out the windows, That would have been fun going thru the tunnels. 8O ::):
