2nd Jan Walk West End Railway Wander (No Tunnel Walking)

In the absence of anybody else having a suggestion or material for the 2nd of January walk

I've done a little (and I do mean a little) research on the lines around the west end, mainly tracing them etc: and if anybody fancies taking a wander

I know the West End has been done to death and the Botanics Station too but I'm talking desperation here

I'll try to get a bit more done on history before the 2nd, but this will mainly just be a wander through the west end looking at some bits and pieces of the remnants of the lines and I'm sure a lot are more than familiar with them already. It will all be on legal footpaths, its not an exploration session.

Atarting point would be Partick station at 11:00 AM

Don't expect too much, I'll post up again later by which time I hope to have made a bit of progress.

If it rains there should be no shortage of boozers to shelter in.

Anybody with knowledge or maps is more than welcome to come and chip in/contribute/correct/take over as there are quite a few rail buffs on here, with a lot better knowledge than me.

Just hope I can get some info together in time and if anybody has better ideas/material, please feel free I won't be offended (probably relieved)

Started to get material together

I've asked a mod to change the initial starting point to PARTICK STATION, as its a lot more suitable

Kick Off time of 11:00 would remain the same

Sounds great to me and I know next to nothing about the railways so anything you tell me will be educational :D Thanks for organising, see you then :)

Cannot believe I'm still working on tying up the last few loose ends

I haven't had the time to walk all this in one go or had the weather, but I should have enough material to keep us going until you all cry STOP!!!!

Starting at Partick and some brisk walking and end up at Lock 27 for lunch, well that's the plan, but as I have no idea on timing it may all go horribly wrong

A good bit will be on some paths and there may be a bit of clambering at some stages to see one or 2 sights (if you want to its not compulsory). So for footwear it would be best if walking boots (or at least stout waterproof variety) are worn.

See you there if you can be arsed
