Well I don't know if you're just all being kind but the thanks is appreciated.
As we only completed half of the material, on LPs suggestion I'll keep the other half for the next January walk unless somebody comes up with something better. If they do that's great and the material can be used for a regular walk at another time.
The Dams walk I did before was poorly attended, I don't know if that was just bad timing or not many have an interest in infrastructure. Later I'd be happy to rerun that walk if any interest is shown too. The subject was the Gorbals Water Works the first decent clean water supply parts of Glasgow had, it's a walk at the back end of the Dams 2 Darnley park, maybe a bit too geeky for some. It's out by Barrhead, but I'd need to finds a better approach to it as the Aur's Road walk in is nothing short of dangerous. The other thing about out there is that there is it's pretty isolated, nothing in the way of toilets, places to eat etc: so it would have to be a self sufficient walk, plenty of "tea", rolls and hip flasks would be required. As far as toilets its pretty isolated so loads of undergrowth to provide privacy for a quick toilet stop, if your not too fussy.............just a thought and I'll let the mods give it a bit of consideration.
There is at least one other HG'r (possibly more) got a walk in the planning stages too that I'm aware of, so with a bit of luck the tradition can continue.
I'm not putting myself forward because I've got any great knowledge, far from it, I simply enjoy the walks and the company and it would be a poorer day (for me anyway) if the walks were discontinued.
Glad it wasn't the total flop I thought it might be and it was really good to see you all again
John
ps: Anybody take any pics or was the weather that bad or the subject matter not of sufficient interest ?
