Most intriguing...
All the world seems in tune on a Spring afternoon, when we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

Thinks you *might* not be talking about the brochure design?

The website's pish and keeps crashing. :x

I was wanting to go to the thing in Glasgow Central, been trying to book a ticket all bloody afternoon with no success. Fuck 'em, I've better things to do.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I know the feeling...
Booking system is now down until Friday!
This web site has been developed to record our local landmarks and to give a brief history on our old pubs. www.oldglasgowpubs.co.uk

Websites being unable to cope with booking 'demand' seems to be something of a marketing ploy nowadays.

There's no better way of getting media coverage than a website which falls over.
I hear the people sing.

The reason the booking system failed is that thousands of people were trying to book places on the Central Station tour when the lines were supposed to open at 9am on Tuesday. However, the site was already down at 8.45am. But, despite this, the tour was nearly fully booked when they tried to re-open the bookings at 11am - when it crashed again.
Despite assurances that absolutely no bookings had been taken, they hastily, and somewhat suspiciously, added another Central Station tour.

They finally admitted that "some people" had managed to make bookings and they were going to honour them if they had received a confirmation email.
It transpired that people had actually been able to make bookings as early as 8.30am, hence the Central tour having practically sold out before the bookings officially opened.
GDOD/GBPT have lied, back-tracked, and continually contradicted themselves throughout this whole fiasco.

I tweeted ( god i hate saying that ) at 9am asking someone how they had managed to book at 8.30am. At that time GlasgowDOD were telling others no one had booked anything. After asking for a DM to get a phone number to the person with a confirmation email, magically instead of doing the appropriate thing and recalling all the earlier bookings they accepted them. If the failure had been at 10am then allowing any booking between 9am and then would seem reasonable but early bookings point to incompetence that should be addressed. Hopefully in a public manner but as with most of these issues it was probably friends and family who got the contract so no accountability.

All it says is that next time ignore the times they state and hammer the website before the time published .

The other important point is that they should have more of these openings throughout the year rather than one special weekend .

The "extra" tour was booked up within 15 seconds of bookings opening this morning. Just missed it. Disappointed.

I was trying to book on the internet site ( on my phone ) this morning, but the site kept saying that booking would open soon.

I eventually decided to phone and got through after quite a few attempts. The operator was brilliant and even laughed when I asked if she was having a busy morning :D

After a few tense moments ( Saturday 1:00 - one space only, Saturday 15:00 - one space only ) I got booked on this years must visit building.

It won't be here next year.

Can you guess what it is?

Not the Willow Tea Rooms, no.

This building makes its first and last Doors Open appearance this year.
