Looks like I got my cafes mixed up the one about 100 yds east of where Whitehill St, comes down to near the parade and on the parade was the Bungalow Cafe and had been going a lot longer than I thought. Sadly no longer there.

and before any comedians get going no that's not me.

The Swallow Cafe is on the same spot as in the early 70s though sadly looking very third rate from the cafe I remember

On the St Andrews church east that I thought was McIntosh like and the woman we spoke to in the halls said John Sommerville was the architect. I checked it out and it turns out the halls were Sommerville but the architect of the church was James Millar

If you scroll to about a third of the way down there is a very nice photograph of it.

Wikipedia listing for Millar, could possibly be a subject of a walk. That's a project for another day.

I thought she said the church was Salmon.
A vagabond on the way.

Hi Momument

Sorry you're correct Salmon, not Sommerville, I'll need to start taking a notepad with me on the walks.

I'm not coming up with a lot of hits for the church, or listings for Miller for that matter.

The only thing so far is the listed buildings site

http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-33879-681-alexandra-parade-and-6-easter-craigs-

http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-48569-685-alexandra-parade-st-andrew-s-east-chu

I suppose it could be wrong, I'd like to get some more info. RCAHMS only lists the halls for some strange reason
