Did anyone see it? I drove from the bridge down to Govan and back up on the other side looking for the boat but couldn't see a thing. Some news photographers said it had headed down to Govan but they'd lost the boat too.

I work in an office on the Broomielaw. The folk who sit overlooking the Clyde saw it a few times, but by the time that those of us who sit at the back of th building wandered over to the south facing windows, there was nowt to see other then a Police launch scooting about on the river.

It ceratinly caused a fair bit of excitment though, even if the poor bugger has no doubt swam up the river to die.

As an aside, today is the first time I've noticed any vessels using the Broomielaw pontoon in the 10 years or so it's been in place.

A RESCUE operation to try and save a whale which is trapped in the River Clyde has resumed today.
The baby northern bottlenose - which has been dubbed Bobby - was first spotted swimming in the river near the city centre on Monday evening.
But concerns for the five-metre-long creature's welfare are growing.
Experts fear it could have been separated from its parents and say it is acting unusually.
Thought to be around one year old, the whale was first seen close to the Squinty Bridge.
Crowds gathered yesterday as British Divers Marine Life Rescue sent a vet and two reflotation rescue pontoons to the scene near the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
They hope to use a boat to get close to the whale so they can assess its condition and take a blood sample to check if it has health problems.
It later swam east towards the George IV Bridge, where the search continued last night.
A spokeswoman for Clyde Coastguard said it was last spotted around 8.30pm

Popped down on the way to work this morning. Nice stv cameraman showed me the footage I'd just missed- and which was on their news this evening. Poor bloke was left on the sidelines as the BBC crew got on to the pontoon with the cops and BDMLR folk. So I saw the whale, in siu, sort of.

Yeah but if people got a taste for it and they sold out, you'd soon have people singing old Vera Lynn songs:

"Whale meat again, don't know where, don't know when...."

Last night at about 7.30 - 9pm the poor beastie was trapped at the weir, next to Glasgow Green & Nautical College. It was getting dark but I managed to get a couple of (poor) shots.

On of the other flickr peeps manage to get a good one. link to the fotie

I'll be surprised if the poor thing made it through the night. Must have been so distressed being stuck at a metal weir :(
