I've got one of them.

I like the way folk just step over Josh as he sprawls halfway across the floor. Ian was lovely, he's a loss.

I was walking around the top of the hill in Queens Park this afternoon when a crow popped up from the long grass with something in its mouth. There was some blood-chilling squeaking going on and I thought it was a mouse at first - but then I noticed the arms and legs poking out of the crow's mouth.

The crow didn't get very far - as you can see, the frog that he'd picked out of the grass is a decent handful. Mr Crow's power to weight ratio wasn't enough and he came down on the path a few yards further on and dropped his "lunch". I picked the frog up to examine him for injuries. I had to hold him aloft to look underneath - he really didn't want to be tipped over - almost like a gyroscope. Anyway, no harm done, it seems and he was happy to sit in my hand once he realised I wasn't going to harm him.

I walked down the hill to the pond as I wasn't sure if letting him go in the long grass would leave him close enough to moisture (and of course, Mr Crow might have come back...)

I let him go in the pond just after taking the photo above just as some kids turned up with some fishing nets. They were all for catching him again until I explained that he'd got off lightly and probably needed to rest a while in the weeds at the bottom of the pond. They went looking for fish instead.

Just to be a bit different. ;)

My wee pal Mr. Cheeky and his cousin Timmy.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

There's a great picture in the Guardian of a tree frog using a leaf as an umbrella:

Last week we had to have our wee Yorkie put to sleep. She had been riddled with cancer and the heat just finished her. At first I said to missus , no more dogs. Not after havin lost two in a year . However the house has been sooo quiet. I come in and out and find myself looking to see where the dog is. Even went to take dog for walk out of sheer habit. So we have decided to look for another wee dog. The missus has her heart set on a Jack Russell but they are just about impossible to find without travelling the length of UK. So if anyone knows of any pups do give us a shout. Missus says it just looks so strange me walking up to meet her from work at night on my own.
THE MASTER OF THE CARAVAN :
But who are ye in rags and rotten shoes,
You dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?

THE PILGRIMS :
We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further:

I saw one using a leaf as a sun hat in the Graving Docks last week. Not to mention a very large eel and some even larger fish (Pike? Perch? Who knows).

Hillbilly, sorry to hear about your wee Yorkie, if your getting another dog i'd recommend a Patterdale terrier, great nature & they don't bark until startled or at work ( I don't work my 2) they're sometimes called the long legged Jack Russel mine are black smooth coated so don't cast either, my wife had never had a dog & she loves the Patts.

PS mine are both male so no pups here m8 :D Good luck with what you choose
