Pedestrian, as they initiated the action.

There's still probably a duty of the cyclist to avoid, but it's a measure of degree. If the pedestrian is yards ahead and avoidable, then they should be avoided, but if they're stupid enough to jump in front of a moving cycle without giving the cyclist a chance to avoid (or to put him/herself in danger if they avoid the pedestrian) then it is, in my view, the pedestrian's fault.

Is it not embarrassing that the BBC decided to show an episode of the Tweenies where character called Max appears dressed as Jimmy Savile.
Should that particular recording not have been destroyed by now?

Embarrassing no, I think someone didn’t bother to watch the whole episode before broadcasting it. As for destroying it, that seems a bit of an overreaction, are we going to destroy every reference to him (and buildings as well for that measure!) and will this help any of his victims or is it just to quench the hysteria whipped up by the tabloids who for some reason never managed to find out what he was about while he was still alive?

Here's JS advising a pal about how useless MI5 are.

Am I the only one pissed off by passengers "standing forward of this notice" as it used to say on the buses when I was a conductor. It tends to be young people - people under 25 - who do this, blocking the way for passengers getting on and/or off. The driver should be telling them to take a seat.

Durachdan,

Eddy

PS - I've never been to a Burns Supper either.

Never been to one either. Was I missing anything?
We did have Haggis, Neeps and Tatties for tea last night. Does that count?

I have been to a few though they were held here in N.I.
Would like to go to one in Glasgow one day.

Don't know whether you would be missing out or not.
I was sitting at a table with people I wouldn't normally socialise with but there were others I knew.
Had a good enough night with lovely food, music and dancing.

Didn't get to it this last couple of years.

I expect there is an obvious answer to this question but I'm still in the dark as to what it means.
When you dial a number and a recorded message says the other person has cleared should you try and find
alternative number?

Don't feel so bad, Dot - you're still one step ahead of me. I don't even understand what the question means. Cleared?

If you're trying to get in contact with someone, what else could you possibly do other than to find an alternative number?

It usually means the other person has hung up. But if they never answered in the first place, then I have no idea either.

Does anyone on here walk their dog while they are on their bike?
I see people doing this quite often but is it fair to a pet and is it not a bit cruel.

Also see people jogging with child in a pushchair and is it not unkind to be jolting them over pavement which can be quite uneven.

They're mostly Yuppies, Dot, and the Yuppy desire is to be seen doing something out of the ordinary !

They don't care about the dog or the bub in the pram !
